About

I help you refine your ideas and turn them into high-performing, user-friendly mobile applications

My name is Desi Umpuan, and I started my product design journey as a computer science student. Through mentorships and internships, I started out as a UI/UX designer intern in 2016 to create an AI dashboard to help customer service representatives respond faster, more accurately, and more effectively, thus improving the number of completed queries daily. It turned out to be so fun, I decided to continue this path as my career.

9+ years later, I have helped companies redesign their digital platforms, simplify user experiences, reduce bounce rates, and increase their user engagement. I’ve also mentored over 600 aspiring iOS developers in Indonesia—launching not just numerous iOS apps, but also their careers as developers, designers, and startup founders.

Having lived and worked across Indonesia, Singapore, and Australia, I bring a global perspective to design, blending cultural insight with design thinking methodology to create impactful digital solutions.

Core Expertise

With years of experience, thousands of research and design processes, and international credentials, I do what your AI couldn’t.

  • Helping you create your digital product, from scratch to launch—from design, development, and user testing.

  • Already have a product in hand but not sure how well its performance is? Keep getting user complaints about your UX? Or feeling like “something is missing, but I don’t know what”? I can do a UX audit for you and provide no-BS feedback with real, actionable and practical recommendations.

I review existing apps and websites to identify usability issues and friction points. My audits are backed by heuristic evaluation, analytics (like Hotjar or GA), and quick-win recommendations.

  • I can help turn your ideas, be it a website, mobile apps, or even an uncommon platform like an Apple Watch or smart TV, into visual design.

I design clear, usable interfaces with Sketch and Figma, then bring them to life through interactive or live prototypes using no-code tools like Framer and Squarespace—enabling faster iteration and real-world testing before development.

  • I help product teams discover and validate ideas by identifying real user problems, defining clear goals, and rapidly testing solutions through design sprints, journey mapping, and prototyping—always with a focus on business impact.
